UPDATED: Shout Outs And Tragedies Don’t Mix

Yesterday, I did not get to see Obama’s statement on the Fort Hood shootings. One of my readers made a comment about it, so I searched for the YouTube clip.

This is rather unbelievable. Did the brother never watch any of his predecessors make these kinds of statements.  Given the mismatch between the two events, didn’t anyone think that Obama should have made two separate statements so as not to mix the moods?

For all the talk about how bright Obama is and how bright his staff is, these people continually make one dumb mistake after another. Geez, how hard is it to figure out that tragedies and shout out don’t mix!

UPDATE: NBC Chicago Notices Too

Obama's behavior must have been really bad for NBC to have noticed.

From NBC Chicago:
But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner."  Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?
Who is advising him? Try this line "birds of the same feather flock together"! Obama and his advisors are not the most Pro-American people in the nation, as such you will continue to get incidents like this.

I saw it live. It was very bizarre. At the point he made the comments, we didn't know how many gunmen there were at Fort Hood. We didn't know if this was a coorindated attack and whether other military bases were at risk, etc.

But the Fort Hood massacre had been all over the news and here he is in a light hearted mood giving shout outs. He's an insensitive dolt. As always, just imagine if it were George Bush who behaved that way. --SCOTT

The 'man' sitting in the WH is an embarrassment to our country. He has never shown that he knows correct protocol from meeting the Queen of England to this disgusting display yesterday. I wanted to hurl when I watched this yesterday.

The emperor has no clothes, inspite of what he would have us believe!

I wonder if NMC will be selling "Shout Out" dolls in the merchandise store now?

I noticed this yesterday before any of the press caught on. LOVE the title of the post. Boy Wonder is just that, not much of a Messiah, right?

The president should not need advisors or handlers or protocol experts to tell him the appropriate behavior for an announcement of a massacre.

People who receive news that makes them feel grief or empathy or concern do not act like they are having fun. They act like they are feeling grief or empathy or concern.

Ordinary human compassion impels people to compassionate behavior. The idea is not to seem to be compassionate. The idea is to actually be compassionate.

I was away from the TV when he gave the speech. I did hear the shout out part, but thought it was another speech totally unrelated to Fort Hood. Then someone posted a comment saying he did both in the same speech. I was floored!

Clearly Obama and his "advisors" inhabit a small world. They are not nearly as knowledgeable as they pretend to be.

Things like the trinkets for heads of state and this inappropriate behavior simply proves they are not ready for prime time.

Why bother, the profits will be taxed to death anyway.

We had to expect this. The amount of hype vs. Obama's actual resume, pretty much insured we would get stuff like this.

I would have settled for outrage, shock even bewilderment would have done in a pinch. But jovial? Good grief!

Isn't this disgusting??? I could not believe it yesterday when I heard it... I literally thought they had the wrong audio clip...even I thought PresBO was better than that.

The man is a menace.

This was a disgrace. His inability to act with grace and dignity is horrifying. Today's speech was no better. Why advise us all to "not jump to conclusions"? Like he did with the police officer?

Over at HuffPo, the lefties were defending this by comparing it to George W. on 9/11.

As if he should have instantly stood up in front of a bunch of grade-school kids and given a speech, I suppose?

This clown has no idea how to be a leader. He was not scripted in advance by Soros or whoever is filling TOTUS with words, and he showed his true self.

ok, worse yet..... according to newsbuster.org: Dr. Crow's name is not included on the Society's Medal of Honor recipient list.

He was, however, awarded the Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, in August.

Good ole Joe couldn't match this mess, could he?
